Adventure Trip South Africa
Traveling through the diversity of south africa
I have never been as far away from home as in these 16 days in South Africa. I really enjoyed the awesome landscapes, the wild animals in each corner and the friendliness of the people from South Africa.
Our South Africa trip started in Johannesburg after a really long flight… We spend the first night in Pretoria and the next day we head to Hazyview where we spend some days on a beautiful macadamia farm. On our way to the next destination, the Pezulu Private Reserve near Krueger Nationalpark, we drove along the panorama route, which led us to amazing landscape spots.
Pezulu Private Reserve
Arrived in Pezulu Tree House Lodge, we where overwhelmed by the amazing atmosphere: animals everywhere between the tree houses and nothing else around us for miles. To recover from the stress of the journey (we should have better rent a Jeep 😉 ) we had a delicious braai in the evening. The next morning we stood up quite early to have a bush walk and follow the traces of the wild animals. As this reserve has no lions and elephants, we had our first safari in a neighboring reserve where we watched the sunset and enjoyed some Savanna 😉
It was a great feeling to drive with our car through the Kruegerpark and watch all the wild animals. In the evening, we had a night safari and found lazy lions lying and sleeping in the middle of the street 🙂
For our next destination, we left South Africa for some days. In Mlilwane Rest Camp in Swasiland we had the chance to sleep in beehive huts, a great experience, because inside they where completely dark without any window.
Because of having no dangerous animals in this camp (besides crocodiles and hippos 😉 ), we where able to do some hiking on our own. I really loved, how the red earth in Swasiland gave an amazing color to the landscape we walked trough. Exploring our surrounding without any guide was on the one hand a good chance, but on the other a little bit scary, too.
In St. Lucia, we meet a lot of monkeys, some where funny, others where really cute, but some of them have been aggressive as well. We intended to have a nice beach day at Cape Vidal, but the unrelenting wind didn’t allowed us to lay down and enjoy the sun. Anyway, this beach was amazing! Having some lunch afterwards at our car, we had to defend our food against the greedy monkeys 😀
As we haven’t seen enough animals yet 😉 we visited the crocodile sanctuary in St. Lucia and had a boat safari to see a lot (felt like hundreds) of hippos 🙂
As a grand finale we explored the fascinating Drakensberge. They were made for hiking, dreaming and amazement. The summit of our South Africa trip! On top of the mountain, we felt like we arrived in another world… such a beautiful landscape! This made it much harder for us to fly back to Germany…
Thanks for reading and watching! 🙂
